Why Christians Have No Reason to Fear (No Matter Who Wins the Election)

Why Christians Have No Reason to Fear (No Matter Who Wins the Election)

Every four years, we all hear the same familiar refrain, “This is the most important election of our lifetime. If __________ wins, America will become unfixable.” This is propaganda to incite fear. Politicians and their advisors know that fear is one of the strongest emotions and causes people to do things that they otherwise would not do. Unfortunately, countless Christians have fallen into this trap even though a spirit of fear does not come from God (2 Timothy 1:7.) In fact, God commands us constantly to not fear. I would like to take you on a short thought exercise that I believe will change your perspective about the future and help you find peace in quiet faithfulness to the most basic precepts of the Christian faith.

“Fret not yourself because of evildoers, and be not envious of the wicked, for the evil man has no future; the lamp of the wicked will be put out.” – Proverbs 24:19-20

God has given us a reason to not fret or worry, future victory. Yes, if you read Revelation there is coming a New Heaven and New Earth. However, this is not what God has in mind; He is referring to victory in this life not the life to come. How can we be sure of this victory in this life?

“For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the LORD, but he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death.” – Proverbs 8:35-36

The Bible puts things in terms of stark contrast where there is no middle ground. Life vs. death. Good vs. evil. Light vs. darkness. Notice how Solomon tells us that those who find Jesus Christ, personified here as wisdom, find life. By contrast those who hate Jesus do not just find death, they love death.

Let’s take 100 faithful Christians. The Christians embrace the call to be fruitful and multiply. They see children as a blessing. They view heterosexual, life-long marriage as God’s good gift. They see sex as the union of husband and wife that multiplies through procreation. They take seriously the call to love the fatherless, so they foster and adopt. They understand that the Gospel and the Spirit of God points their hearts home to disciple their kids. They pass these ideas on to their children and grandchildren as God teaches over and over again throughout Scripture. For the sake of argument, if we leave evangelism and missions out of the equation, what is the end result? Even if you factor in singleness and infertility, the number of Christians grows; it literally multiplies as God commanded repeatedly in His Word. As God said, they find life!

Now, let’s take 1,000,000 pagans. They hate children; they literally murder their own children by the millions (abortion.) They do everything within their power to avoid having children (birth control.) They engage in unions that cannot produce children (homosexuality.) They mutilate their bodies, sterilizing themselves (transgender surgeries and hormones.) They promote violence and war, further killing off each other and their own children. They either do not marry, or they divorce frequently, further alienating their children and giving them unstable homes resulting in countless kids in foster care. They even promote killing themselves (doctor assisted suicide, right to die.) They celebrate the killing of one another (euthanasia.) What will the end result of this be? There will be fewer and fewer pagans. It is just simple math. As God said, they literally love death!

Given enough time, 100 Christians can quickly overtake a society of 1,000,000 pagans. Now imagine that the Christians who love children and life share the Gospel! Death loving people are given a new heart through faith in Jesus that causes them to now find life. It does not take much evangelism in the above scenarios to accelerate victory. It is literally mathematically impossible to lose! However, there is one factor that will derail the entire scenario: Christians losing their children to the pagans who love death.

Again, herein lies the one thing that can derail Christian victory, Christians having children that reject Christ and become pagans. Please listen to me! Ungodly ideas cannot last more than a generation or two; they literally do not have the children to perpetuate their philosophies. There is only one place they can find people to perpetuate the culture of death, our children. This is why homosexual adoption is such a huge thing! They do not have offspring to carry on their ideas; they must take someone else’s.

May I remind you that Hitler had no children? How did he succeed? Listen to Hitler in his own words:

When an opponent declares, “I will not come over to your side,” I calmly say, “Your child belongs to us already…What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community.”

What was one of the first things that Hitler did? He outlawed homeschooling. To this day in Germany, Nazi memorabilia, salutes, ideas, etc. are banned by the government. You know what has not changed? Homeschooling is still illegal. What is one of the ten planks of communism as taught in The Communist Manifesto? Free public schools. Why? Whoever has the children has the future.

Christians have not had their minds renewed by God’s Word to know what is the good will of God (Romans 12:1-2.) We may have rejected abortion, but we have not embraced children. As a father with ten children, I receive more grief about the number of children I have from Christian pastors than any other group. Where did God rescind the command to be fruitful and multiply? Since when did God decide that children were curses not blessings? Why do we intentionally close the womb that all the godly men and women throughout Scripture begged God to open? We may oppose transgenderism, but we regularly mutilate our bodies and make them sterile through surgeries and hormones.

We also have become so enamored with what the world offers that our hearts are no longer inclined to our children. If we actually followed Scripture, many pastors would be disqualified from the ministry because of the unbelief and disorderly conduct of their children. How can we expect men to not focus on their careers and instead focus on family discipleship when their own pastors do not lead by example? Being daily in the Word of God with your children is a command, not a suggestion (Deuteronomy 6:7.) We have wholesale given our children to the world as sacrifices to money, homes, and careers. As Voddie Baucham says, we hand our kids over to the Romans for their education and are surprised when they come home as Romans. We want our children to fit into the culture of death, yet we are surprised when they embrace it.

Christian, you are being distracted! The battle for the future is not at the ballot box! It is children. May I remind you that throughout all recorded history, Satan has wanted the children? He goes after Cain. He murders the babies during the time of Moses. Pharoah is willing to let the men go worship God, but the women and children must stay as his slaves. His strategy has not changed! Whoever has the children has the future.

So, what do we do? Go ahead and vote; but remember this, the most important thing for the future resides in your home, not the White House. The “wrong person” may win. However, if they do not have Christ, their ideas will die and join the millions that have been lost in the junkpile of history. We are not in it for the next four years. We are in it for eternity! Turn your heart towards your children. If you lose them, the war is lost. Have they strayed? Then make their restoration your only goal. Repent of viewing children as any thing other than the greatest of blessings. Celebrate young couples getting married and having lots and lots of children. Quit focusing on careers, retirement, sports, etc. Instead focus on your children and grandchildren. That is where the victory lies. If you are able, adopt or foster. Strive to win others to Christ but not at the expense of your children. Disciple those who come to faith to take their faith home (Acts 2:39, Acts 16:31.)

As I see Christian family sizes grow and a renewed emphasis on family worship, my heart swells with the assurance of what Christ promised, victory. It is inevitable. While the culture of death clamors for political power, I laugh with a heart filled with joy and peace. Even if evil prevails in the short term, they have no offspring! In a few days, I will take my kids to the ballot box and explain what we are doing and why we are doing it. However, that will only be after we have gathered to sing God’s praises, read His Word, and pray as we do every morning. “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.” Be at peace Christian, by God’s grace, the future is ours! It is mathematically impossible for us to lose. But we have something even better, the very promise of God:

“But if you love me and obey my laws, I will be kind to your families for thousands of generations.” – Exodus 20:6 (CEV)
