Evangelism Training (Part 9)

Evangelism Training (Part 9)

Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.Mark 1:14-15

When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.Matthew 12:43-45

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.Hebrews 6:1-2

To simply turn from sin is not Christianity, you must turn to Christ. Unfortunately much of what we call Gospel preaching is simply calling people to something that is no different than Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Mormonism, or any other cult of false religion. Christianity is not “traditional family values.” Christianity is faith in Jesus Christ alone. As we call people to repentance, we must ensure that we are calling them to Jesus Christ. Simply leaving sin behind will only leave a vacuum that will result in an even worse state. Repentance from self-righteousness and sin must be accompanied by faith in Jesus Christ.

And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.Acts 5:42

Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.Acts 17:3

But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;1 Corinthians 1:23

For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.2 Corinthians 4:5

To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:Colossians 1:27-28

We are to preach Jesus. We do not preach about something; we preach about Someone. The Gospel is not what you must do, it is Who you must trust.

It has been said that we live in a Christ-less Christianity (which is no Christianity at all.) Listen to someone’s testimony, how often do they mention Jesus? There will be a lot of religious talk, but where is Jesus? Listen to the popular preachers of our day. How much do they talk about Jesus? Sharing the Gospel is talking about Jesus.

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:1 Corinthians 15:3-4

Jesus is the Gospel! If you do not share Jesus you are sharing a false religion.
