Jesus is Creator
Jesus was not just simply there in the beginning. He was the Word that proceeded from God and created everything. Jesus, as the Word, was the “let there be light” that brought light into being. He was the Word that created all things.
Jesus is Life
Jesus is Life Himself. All living things derive their life from Him. He is what gave Adam’s lifeless corpse being. All human life is derived from Him. He is the one and only way to Life (John 14:6). Because Jesus is the Life if any man believes in Jesus he will never die (John 11:25-26).
Jesus is Light
Jesus is the Light that gave light to creation before the sun, moon, and stars existed. Jesus is also the Light that has been given to every human being. This Light is man’s capacity to reason, his conscience (the seat of his morality), and his soul. Adam’s sin plunged men into darkness and brought death to their souls, but the remnants of this Light still remain in human beings. All men are born with reasoning abilities and a sense of morality. However, because of Adam’s fall, all men are born dead in their sins (Ephesians 2:1-3) with a warped sense of reason and a depraved conscience (Romans 1:21-32).
Application
We are to point people to Christ by letting Him be seen through us. We must proclaim that He is the Creator, the Life, and the Light that they need.
