Jesus has just allowed the adulterous woman to go free. She acknowledged her guilt by staying at His feet, and He has told her to go and sin no more. Jesus now addresses the crowd that has witnessed this event.
Jesus is the light of the world
Jesus is emphatic that the woman was delivered from death because of Who He is. There is no focus on the woman or what she has done. Salvation is only in Who Jesus Christ is and what He has done. Jesus declares Himself to be the Light of the World. He has come to expose all sin and open sinners eyes to their guilt and condemnation. He has just done this with the Pharisees who were accusing the woman.
To Believe in Jesus is to follow Him
The only way to be saved is to follow Jesus. Salvation is a life, not a moment in time transaction. To follow Jesus is to be saved. If you are not following Jesus you are lost no matter what you may profess.
To follow Jesus is to walk out of the darkness
You cannot walk in darkness and light. If you are following Jesus He will lead you into the light. This means to follow Jesus you must be open and honest about your sin as the woman was. It also means that as you follow Jesus He will deliver you from the sin that has enslaved you. This woman can now go follow Jesus and “sin no more.”
Walking in the light is eternal life
To walk with Jesus in open confession of sin and victory over sin is eternal life. Jesus is explaining how the woman escaped death. She escaped death by coming to Jesus Who is the light. In coming to Him He exposed her guilt and delivered her from death and sin. She can now walk in freedom from her adultery. This is what it means to have eternal life. Walking in the light is eternal life (1 John 1:5-10.)

Will you acknowledge your guilt? Will you believe that He has died in your place? Will you follow Jesus?
